How to Use
- Prep nails: push back cuticles, gently buff the surface, and remove oils with GLOSS nail cleanser or dehydrator.
- Apply a thin first layer of Rubber Base Gel and cap the free edge. Cure under UV/LED for 60 seconds.
- Apply a second, slightly thicker layer to build structure or apex if needed. Self-level, then cure for another 60 seconds.
- Continue with GLOSS gel polish or builder gel as needed.

A rubber base is a thicker, more flexible gel formula that acts as both a base coat and a subtle structural layer. It self-levels to fill minor nail ridges and surface imperfections, creating a smooth canvas for gel polish. Its flexible cure means it bends with the nail instead of becoming brittle, which significantly reduces chipping and lifting compared to hard gel bases.
Which GLOSS Rubber Base formula is right for my clients?
GLOSS Rubber Premium Base works for most natural nails and is our bestselling formula. Hard Base is recommended for thin, peeling, or weak nails that need extra structural support. HEMA-free Base is for clients with sensitivities or allergies to HEMA. Low-Acid Base is for clients with very sensitive or reactive skin during curing.
How many coats of rubber base do I need to apply?
Most nail technicians apply one to two thin coats of GLOSS Rubber Base per service. For clients with deep nail ridges, thin nails, or difficult nail plates, two coats provide better coverage and adhesion.
Does rubber base work without a nail primer?
For most clients with normal, healthy nails, GLOSS Rubber Base can be applied directly after dehydrating the nail plate — primer is optional. For clients prone to lifting, or those with very oily nail plates, we recommend applying GLOSS Nail Primer before the rubber base for maximum adhesion.
Why does GLOSS Rubber Base come in 15 ml, 30 ml, and 60 ml sizes?
The multiple sizes let you order based on your service volume. The 15 ml is ideal for technicians who prefer to rotate formulas frequently. The 30 ml and 60 ml sizes offer better value for high-volume salons. All sizes use the same professional formula.
Will rubber base lift on oily nails?
If you prep with GLOSS Nail Prep Dehydrator and primer, retention is excellent even on oily nail plates. Skipping prep is the most common reason for lifting.
How long does a rubber base manicure last?
When applied correctly over properly prepped nails and sealed with GLOSS Top Coat, most clients see 3–4 weeks of wear without lifting or chipping.
