Nail Prep & Liquids
Lift-free manicures start with prep. The GLOSS Nail Prep set pairs our dehydrator and primer — the two products every working tech needs to remove oils, balance the nail’s pH, and create a stronger bond between the natural nail and the base coat.
Use the dehydrator first to strip oils and moisture, then a thin layer of primer for adhesion. Both formulas dry in seconds, leaving the nail ready for base. Available individually or as a set.
How to Use
- Push back cuticles, buff the nail surface lightly.
- Apply nail dehydrator with the brush. Let dry for 20–30 seconds.
- Apply a thin layer of primer. Wait 30 seconds until tacky.
- Apply rubber base coat and continue.

Frequently asked questions
What is the correct order to use the nail prep products?
The correct prep sequence is: 1) Clean nails with GLOSS Cleanser to remove oils. 2) Apply GLOSS Nail Prep Dehydrator to fully dehydrate the nail plate. 3) Apply GLOSS Nail Primer to balance pH and create the bond layer for your base coat. Follow immediately with your chosen base coat.
Do I need to use both the dehydrator and the primer?
For most clients, yes. The dehydrator removes surface moisture and oils, while the primer creates chemical adhesion for the base coat. Using both maximizes gel retention and minimizes lifting. Clients with very dry, thin, or problematic nails especially benefit from the full prep sequence.
Is the GLOSS Nail Primer acid-free?
GLOSS offers both acid-free and standard primer options. Acid-free primers are recommended for clients with sensitive skin or thin nail plates. Check the individual variant label or product listing for your specific selection.
How long does the primer need to dry before applying base coat?
Apply primer in a thin layer and allow it to become tacky-dry (usually 30–60 seconds) before applying your base coat. Do not cure primer under a lamp — it activates through air drying only.
Can I use GLOSS Nail Prep with any brand of gel polish?
Yes. GLOSS Nail Prep Dehydrator and Primer work with any professional gel polish system. However, for guaranteed compatibility and maximum adhesion results, we recommend using the full GLOSS system: prep, rubber base, gel polish, and top coat.
How much product do I apply per nail?
Apply a thin, even layer of dehydrator to the entire nail plate, avoiding the skin. Let dry. Repeat with primer. Avoid flooding the cuticle area with either product. A little goes a long way — a single brush stroke per nail is usually sufficient.
