Frequently asked questions
Do I really need both base coat and top coat for nail polish?
Yes. A base coat protects the natural nail from staining (especially important with red and dark polishes) and gives the polish better adhesion. A top coat seals the color, adds shine, and significantly extends the chip-free wear period. Together they can add several days of extra wear to a regular nail polish manicure.
Can I use the GLOSS Lacquer Top Coat over gel polish?
No. GLOSS Base & Top for Nail Polish are regular (non-gel) lacquer products and are not designed for use over gel. For gel polish services, use GLOSS Rubber Base and GLOSS Transparent Top Coat instead.
How long does the top coat for nail polish take to dry?
GLOSS Lacquer Top Coat air-dries — no lamp required. Allow each coat to dry fully before applying the next for the smoothest finish. Full cure typically takes 5– 10 minutes depending on layer thickness and room conditions.
How long does GLOSS Nail Polish last with the base and top coat?
With proper application of GLOSS Lacquer Base and Top Coat, nail polish wear is typically 5–7 days on most clients. Clients who work with their hands frequently may see shorter wear.
Can I apply a second top coat after 24 hours to extend wear?
Yes. Applying a second thin coat of GLOSS Lacquer Top Coat after 24 hours can refresh shine and extend chip resistance. Make sure the first top coat is fully hardened before applying the second.
